About Us
Property development experts
Redwaters is a company built on a strong Irish heritage which goes back to 1924 and has grown to become one of the best known bespoke development companies in Manchester and the North West of England.

Why choose Redwaters?
In a nutshell because we are good at what we do. We pride ourselves on quality and creating a product you won’t find anywhere else which is why we proudly display our previous projects from the last 50 years we’ve been building. We aim to provide houses that people aspire to live in, but are also good value for money and a sound investment. But we don’t just build developments, we build relationships too. We realise we are only as good as our last project and wouldn’t be around today if it wasn’t for you. So we always, always listen to what our customers have to say and then act on it. It’s called putting you first. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

About Us
50 years of building!
This year was a special one for us as we celebrated our 50th anniversary of creating homes.

The Story of Redwaters
While Redwaters was founded in 1975, its story begins much earlier in 1924. This is the year that Patrick McCaul moved over from Ireland in search of work, he found work as a navvy digging out the East Lancs road (a road which would be the location for many Redwaters developments years later)! His son Joe suffered from dyslexia and began working as a bricklayer by trade, it didn’t take long for Joe to set up his own building company ‘Ashton & McCaul’ which quickly became one of the biggest building companies in the North West of England.
Joe eventually sold the company when he was still only in his 40’s! Joe was itching to get back in the game and so on February 4th 1975 he officially incorporated Redwaters.
In 1990 his son Sean joined the company after getting experience working for some of the biggest national building companies as a land surveyor. Five years later Sean became managing director.
For a while Joe and Sean were co-directors at Redwaters working together seamlessly as father & son.
Following Joe’s passing in 2005 Sean continued to deliver incredible developments which he has now been doing for over 35 years, garnering himself a reputation as one of the most respected individuals in the development world.
Which brings us to today, over 50 years since Joe first started the company. In the years since Redwaters has been carried on by amazing workers such as Meghan who joined us in 2007 and has been with us ever since, rising to become our accounts manager.
There have been a few changes over the years such as Sean’s son Oliver joining the team but one thing that has never changed is our commitment to delivering the best projects we can.
Meet the team.
Joe McCaul
Founder
After working as a Bricklayer by trade Joe set up Ashton & McCaul in 1955 to great success. Joe went on to sell the company and later set up Redwaters in 1975 where we have been delivering homes to be proud of ever since. Redwaters still building homes over 50 years later is a testament to the work ethic and morals Joe instilled into the company
Joe passed away in 2005 and is remembered fondly for his generosity, kind spirit and love of a pint of Guinness!
